A.J. Cook A.J. Cook, the Canadian actor, best known for playing Jennifer Jareau (JJ) for the films Criminal Minds and The Virgin Suicides in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He has also been known for various characters. Cook's television credits include Dead Like Me and Tru Calling. Cook was raised in Whitby by her father Mike who is an educator and mother Sandra, who is a psychiatrist. She was raised with three siblings: Angela, Nathan and Paul. She is a Mormon and a part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When she was a kid, she took in ballet, tap dance as well as jazz classes. Her participation in various contests for dance, however it wasn't until she reached 17 years of age when she began to consider acting. Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze became her motivation to becoming an actor. In August 2001, Cook became engaged to her long-time love Nathan Andersen, whom she attended a film workshop during her time at Utah Valley University. They share a son. Mekhai Allan Andersen was born 13 September 2008. The couple currently reside in Los Angeles
